1940 The General Aircraft G.A.L.38 – British long-range patrol airplane to track naval task forces and radio back position information. Powered by 4 x 130hp engines. The concept of a fleet patrol aircraft was replaced by the invention of the radar. The radar made these airplanes unnecessary and useless.
