The Short Shamrock – a failed attempt

The Short Shamrock – a failed attempt to cross the Atlantic by air in 1919.
With a huge 1978 Liters external fuel tank, it was making a positioning flight to Ireland to begin its flight, when it ditched just 19 kilometers across the Irish Sea. It was safely towed ashore.
